PUREABBY ABYSSINIAN CATS

Breeder of Non-Dilute Abyssinians

PureAbby Cattery is located in the Caledon Hills just north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. We are intentionally a small Cattery which allows us to provide our cats and kittens with individualized care, love, and attention. We are focused on breeding healthy, vigorous cats with exceptional temperaments. Our Abyssinian program includes Ruddy and Red (Sorrel) colors. We do not carry any dilute colors in our cattery.

Our cats are part of our family – and it is a rather large family! In addition to cats, we have 2 dogs, horses, and chickens. Our cats are born in our home and begin their socialization at an early age. There are a couple of aunts and an uncle who have made it their business to socialize and entertain the kittens as they grow up. We keep our kittens until they are 4 months old, at which time they are ready to go to their forever homes.

Unfortunately, Abyssinians are not known for their large litters. As a result, PureAbby Cattery does have a waiting list for kittens. If you are interested in finding out more about our cats and wish to be on our waiting list, please contact us.

Dexter II

Dear Janet, The wait for our new boy was worth it!  Thank you so much for this new member of our family.  Dexter II is our latest Aby.  He arrived Dec 2nd, 2017. He is now bonding with our brown tabby, Casey who is 8 years old. Dexter is a typical Aby: playful, outgoing, friendly, fearless and just a pleasure to have!  He is growing quickly, has a huge appetite and very, very active. If you want to preserve your household knickknacks you had better find a safe place for them. They won’t be Aby-proof! Dexter and Casey are now the best of pals, sleeping in the same bed (just 3 days after Dexter’s arrival)  Dexter II looks a lot like the second Aby we owned –  appropriately named… Abby. Just like Dexter II, she was fearless, affectionate and full of beans! Dexter I  was our very first Aby. He was very regal, a little standoffish but one of the most clever cats we have ever owned. As you can see WE JUST LOVE ABYSSINIANS!
Thanks again, Michael.

Chase

We welcomed our beautiful 4-month-old Ruddy Abyssinian, Chase into our home in October 2017. From the time he arrived he has been training us on his likes (which are many) and his dislikes (certain foods…yech) He is a very active trainer! We are experienced Aby parents, and Chase is definitely a typical Aby with all the wonderful traits and characteristics. He is highly intelligent (he knows exactly where we hide his treats and certain toys), and is very people oriented. He wants to know where and what we are doing at all times, checking to see if he can help out. (like with the dishes) He is so outgoing and loving when company comes to visit and has trained everyone to play “fetch the ball.” Chase is also quite a talker and engages us in conversations on a daily basis. Like most Aby’s Chase’s favourite spot is to be as high as he can, in particular, our Grandfather clock from where he can regard his kingdom. He is such an entertaining cat and makes us laugh every day. At night Chase is found snuggling with us in bed. He is everything we imagined and more.

Olivia

We were heartbroken when we had to say goodbye to our sweet old Abyssinian boy Eliot. Several months later we acquired Olivia, a Ruddy female kitten from Janet Wells of PureAbby Cattery. Olivia is now 1.5 years old and such a joy. She is beautiful, smart, sweet and keeps us entertained. She has that typical clownish Aby behavior. Olivia lives with three Siamese cats and two Great Danes, and keeps everyone in line. Thank you, Janet, for the privilege of allowing us to raise your baby.
